4th of July

We celebrated our 4th get-together the saturday before since I had to work on the 4th.

The only fireworks that we did at home were the snakes that get long when you light them. Kaitlynn enjoyed watching them. We figured that we could wait one more year before getting more of them at home for us all to play with.

Kaitlynn made her 4th of July outfit at her day care. I think that she makes a great Miss Independence Day, don't you?

Eating ice cream "comes" (instead of cones) after enjoying the day.

Kaitlynn and Scott went to see the fireworks that Firestone sets off on the 4th.

7th Wedding Anniversary

On June 10th, we celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary! Can't believe it's been 7 years since we said "I do".

We ate at Outback for dinner, then took a drive in the Mini Cooper up above Boulder. We decided to stop and hit a few softballs for old times sake (Scott and I played on a softball team for Cleo Wallace before we started dating.)

We enjoyed our evening and look forward to having MANY more anniversaries to celebrate!

Mom's memorial service

On May 5th, we had Mom's memorial services. It was a really nice location and for the most part, the weather cooperated.
Gary (my brother) playing "Danny Boy" on his sax. Mom always said that she wanted him to play that at her funeral.

After a brief tribute to Mom, we had a bbq and everyone brought something for potluck. It turned out really well, Mom would have loved it.

Thanks to everyone that came from so far away to pay tribute to Mom. It was really comforting to have everyone there.

Miss you Mama!

Florida in April

In late April, Scott's uncle passed away in Florida... so we flew out there for the funeral. We figured that since we were spending all that money to fly out there, that we should try to have some fun while we were there.

Kaitlynn wasn't real thrilled about riding the bus, but we decided it would be easiest to take the Sky Ride bus to the airport so that we wouldn't have to pay for parking and his family could pick up his car later. She enjoyed it once we got on.

Kaitlynn was very good on the flight. The passengers around us even commented on it. I figure that they were expecting to have to listen to a loud little kid the whole flight.

Kaitlynn was excited to see her cousin Derek and was able to see her great-grandma Barb Lohmann (who lives in Alabama). It was really nice to see her!

At Scott's Aunt Caroline's house. Grandma Lohmann with her grandkids and great grandkids on this side of the family. Troy, Scott, Kaitlynn, Mark, Kristel, Derek, Barb, Kim, and Cameron.

Most of the boys (Scott, Mark, and their dad) went to Cape Canaveral to see all the space shuttle stuff. The rest of us drove down the coast and had a nice lunch and enjoyed the beautiful day.

It was Kaitlynn's first time seeing the ocean and playing on the beach... if you can't tell... she LOVED it!

Dinner on the coast of the bay with the family.

After dinner, we went down to the pier and played in the water. It was so beautiful and even Grandma got her feet wet, literally!

Kaitlynn and I being chased by the waves. We had so much fun. The funniest thing was that Kaitlynn had to go potty real bad and the closest bathroom was too far... so she tinkled for the first time outside under the pier. She was so funny about it, but did great!

The three of us got to play on the beach quite a bit. The weather was perfect. Scott and I did a bit of body surfing in the mild waves, we all built sand figures, and fould lots of sea shells.

After the funeral, we headed up to Disney World. Kaitlynn enjoyed it, but was ready to go back to the hotel and play in the pool by lunch time. Of course when you spend that much money, we spent the whole day there.

The main thing that she wanted to see in Disney world was Mike and Sully from Monsters, Inc. The first day we went to Magical Kingdom and only saw Mike on his show there. She was so disappointed. The second day we went to MGM Studios and just after we got there, we turned the corner... and there was Sully. They had to take a break and when Sully came back out, Mike had joined him! She was SO excited!

Enjoying the cool. It was very hot at Disney, but nice in all the theaters and covered rides. We had lots of fun... but we aren't in any rush to get back there. If anything, we will go to the beach before anything else.

In memory of Gary Lohmann.
